More than 250 experts and practitioners from sport, health, social responsibility and sustainability will gather for the 2017 European Healthy Stadia Conference at the Emirates Stadium on April 27.
ConnectSport has been appointed official media partner for the event which will include keynote speakers from DCMS, the EU Sport Unit, World Heart Federation and Institute of Alcohol Studies, and numerous governing bodies including UEFA, the Premier League, Premiership Rugby, Rugby Football League, European Golf Tour and Amateur Swimming Association. Ivan Gazidis, Chief Executive of host club Arsenal, will open the conference.
This will be the fourth international conference held by Healthy Stadia, and will celebrate 10 years of the European Healthy Stadia movement. The conference is now considered the principal symposium and networking space for professionals involved in the cross-cutting fields of public health, NCD (non-communicable disease) prevention and sport, and will also be of interest to those working in social responsibility and sustainability.
This year’s conference will have a specific focus on the growing interaction between academic research, policy and practice in the field of Healthy Stadia, with at least 10 academic institutes presenting or chairing sessions underlining the benefits of partnerships between research institutions, clubs/venues and governing bodies. Themes for discussion include

- – Healthier catering options
- – Mental health and dementia support
- – Tobacco control and alcohol policies
- – Obesity and weight-loss interventions
- – Active travel and active spectatorship
- – Evaluation and research partnerships
- – Sports sponsorship and public health
The conference programme will feature a wide range of plenary and break-out sessions led by key influencers and policy-makers in the sector, and is your opportunity to explore the latest developments, trends and examples of best practice.
